During Universal’s 100 year celebrations, the studio will be screening one of their hit movies Reality Bites at the Sundance Festival and director Ben Stiller is not looking forward to it, he’s said that it makes him feel old. “It’s just a bizarre experience. I haven’t watched the movie in a long, long time. So it will be kind of interesting, but I am kind of dreading it too!”
‘Reality Bites’ was released about 18 years ago in 1994 and it was also Ben Stiller’s first time to ever direct a film. “On your first time out, you don’t know what you can’t do, so you have this sort of boldness because you don’t know any better. I think we thought we knew what we were doing, but then as you get older you realize you really don’t know… you know less and less as you go along. But that blind enthusiasm is sort of what gets you through the experience. I just remember having a really good time.”
Stiller also commented that Winona Ryder’s character wouldn’t have to go through so much difficulties if they tried to make the same movie today. “It’s just a different generation in terms of access to media. And what Winona’s character is doing in the movie — in terms of trying to get her own show, [now] she could do her own show. She could just do it. She could do her own show on YouTube and there’d be no excuses. So, it’s a really different time.”
Meanwhile, Stiller’s next film “Neighborhood Watch” is currently filming and he stars in it as a new neighbour that joins the local neighbourhood watch. The films release date is set for July 27th, 2012.
