Last year it seemed that the reboot of the amazing 80s classic, Short Circuit, would never be made. This 1986 comedy starred Ally Sheedy and Steve Guttenberg. It’s taken around six months now, but Short Circuit has finally gotten it’s self a screen writer, Dimension announced yesterday that they’ve got Matt Lieberman to write the story. He’s new to the business, since he’s recently graduated from Disney’s writing program – but the hopes of seeing this project come to life, now has hope. Tim Hill will be responsible for directing the film, he directed Alvin and The Chipmunks.
I don’t know if they plan to bring the actors back, but they are bringing original producer, David Foster.
I’m very surprised that there is going to be a reboot of this film, in my opinion, I think it has a high probability of becoming a failure like most reboots. I loved this film as a kid way too much; I watched it too many times to count. The thing is – what if this could actually turn out to be one of those rare reboots that are actually good? So far there’s not enough information on it yet, and hopefully they don’t change the title of the film like what’s happening to The Munsters, cause that would just be horrible.
