Both parts of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit films, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again, are just incredibly huge. There are so many more main characters compared to The Lord of the Rings, it’s just insane. Now, it’s confirmed that the last man to be added to the cast, is Scottish actor and comedian Bill Connolly. He’ll be playing as Dain Ironfoot, a dwarf who’s king of Erebor (The Lonely Mountains).
It’s not known if Connolly will in fact appear in the first film, An Unexpected Journey or There and Back Again. Nobody knows how far the first film is going to progress into the story of the Hobbit, so it’s possible that he may only appear in the second.
Conolly’s character, Dain doesn’t have a big role in the books. Of course I’ve read the book but it’s been so long that I don’t remember when it is that he’s introduced, all I remember is that he’s present at the ending battle. So I’m personally aiming to the conclusion that Connolly’s character will be introduced within the second film.
I keep getting more and more excited with every update for the film, it’s just amazing to know that I’ll once again see the world of Middle Earth on the big screen. Since The Lord of the Rings ended, I haven’t found any other Fantasy like film that was nearly as exciting. So this movie is easily the most anticipated film of 2012 for me and I highly believe for many other people as well.
