Mark Wahlberg’s “2 Guns” looks like it’s going to be better with the inclusion of Denzel Washington In the film. It’s been said that Oscar-winner Denzel Washington is in the talks to join “2 Guns” which will be directed by Baltasar Kormakur and is based on a graphic novel by Steven Grant. Just to shorten it and make it simple,”2 Guns” is about an undercover Naval intelligence Officer and DEA agent who both have to investigate each other.
Here’s a brief description of the movie: A pulp story about cops and thieves and the men that are something in between. Trench has targeted a local bank to rob, and asked Steadman in on the job. Trench figures it’s a great way to score — considering it’s a cover for mob money. They’ll be thieves ripping off thieves. But what Steadman doesn’t know is that Trench is a DEA agent. And what Trench doesn’t know is that Steadman’s a Naval Intelligence officer. They’re both cops! And neither one knows that they’re not robbing the mob, they’ve been set up to steal $50 million from the CIA! A light-hearted crime romp in the vein of Ocean’s Thirteen and The Italian Job from comics legend, Steven Grant!
Apparently he’s only in talks, but since he’s recently completed Rober Zemeckis’ Flight, I think he’ll want to play this role. The film was once going to be directed by David O. Russell with both co-stars from “Wedding Crashers” Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn. That portrayal would have made the film a whole lot funnier, though I’m good with how it is now.
I for one sadly haven’t read the graphic novel… yet, I’m a pretty huge fan of Mr. Washington I’ve seen almost every film he’s starred in and will be continuing to do so. Mark Wahlberg Is alright, I liked him in “The Departed” a lot. The only thing I can say though is that so far this movie sounds like it’s going to be amazing and that I have high hopes for it.
