Warner Bros. has been trying their best for quite a while now to bring The Jetsons back to life. The Jetsons is based on the classic 1960s/1980s cartoon made by Hanna-Barbera; it was about the space-age family of George, Jane, Judy, Elroy and their dog Astro. The first time The Jetsons aired on T.V. was in 1962 it was the complete opposite of another classic of Hanna-Barbera’s, the Flintstones.
The last time we heard about a live-action version of The Jetsons was 3 years ago in 2009, Warner Bros. had a script written by Adam F. Goldberg and it was rumored to have the director of Sin City and Spy Kids Robert Rodriguez with the project. After that rumour nothing else was said about the film, it just kind of faded away.
Now it seems that The Jetsons live-action verson could be highly probable, since Warner Bros. has hired Robichaux and Evan Susser to rewrite the screenplay that Goldberg wrote. They are both new comers to the Hollywood game, their only credit was from the TV show called What’s Going On? with Mike Mitchell.
Warner Bros. is also looking for a new director, producer Denise Di Novi of the film said last year that Rodrigues was took off the project since his vision wasn’t a mainstream studio version. It really makes me wonder what their vision for the film will be. Kanye West typed on twitter earlier this month that he was in talks to be creative director of this film. I don’t know if it’s true but I really hope it’s not, who knows what the hell he could do to this whole project. Maybe this will be like another Eddie Murphy movie, all the characters will be played by Kanye West?
