Earlier in the year Drake was being accused of not paying singer Ericka Lee for her acclaimed contribution to his song ‘Marvin’s Room’, and recently he talked about it in an interview with Tim Westwood. Drake explains the lawsuit and the reason he raised his middle finger at Ericka Lee at one his recent concerts. He says he that he was offended that Lee would try to claim credit to a song he wrote himself.
“It’s more surprising, just out of nowhere ‘cus I felt like I dealt with it so cordially, I’m a straight shooter when it comes to music. I think it’s pretty established that I write my own songs, I think I’ve had too many hits in my career to ever debate whether I’m doing them or not. So when somebody tries to step in and take credit for something that’s not rightfully theirs, it pains me a little bit…there’s a middle finger for every night.”
Personally it doesn’t matter to me whether Erick Lee helped write the song or not, I never thought the song was any good in general. Drake is just not that great a rapper; he’s incredibly over-hyped for no reason. His lyrics are dull and his content is never diverse, he raps about the same crap so much. So it’s great that Drake takes credit for his incredibly boring lyrics, I can honestly say I hate his music now.
