Mischa Barton made a name for herself starring as Marissa on the hit show The OC, but since her character’s line ended, she’s been branching into other spheres of work. The actress was raised in the UK, so it should come as no surprise she headed to London when it came time to launch a line of purses and tech accessories. Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld named her a “fashion role model for an entire generation,” and who can blame him? Misha has a versatile style, from red carpet glam, to boho chic while running errands, and now she’s sharing her style tips with you.
“Make clothes an extension of your own personality – that’s definitely how I see fashion. Fit the trends to you, not the other way round. Find out what’s popular this season and figure out how it can work for you. Wear things the way that you feel the most comfortable.”
We love this! It may be easy to slide the credit card and dress piece by piece like a magazine (assuming your credit card max is infinity dollars), but selecting a few trendy pieces them and working them into your existing wardrobe is the best way to build a wardrobe to last a long time. No one looks good if they don’t feel good! This fall we’ve seen a lot of bold prints–instead of dressing head to toe in a print suit with clashing accessories like models on the runway, work in a great print top or skirt.
We love Mischa for being so open about what fashion is to her, and hope that you can get inspired by all of the amazing outfits she pieces together for herself. What do you think of the actress turned designer (then turned actress)? How are you wearing the trends this winter?
