The cost of cosmetics can be budget-draining, just as a monthly trip to the spa may not make one thinner, but it will certainly make the wallet or purse lighter and thinner. Handily enough, there is a budget solution to making the skin and body feel fresh and revitalized and it involves no transportation costs. Take a trip to the refrigerator and see what is there just waiting to be applied.
1) Bananas. A banana makes for a natural skin mask if mashed up into a paste before applying it to the face and neck. Allow it to dry for up to 20 minutes then wash with clean water. One may want to add yogurt and/or honey as well. Honey has antibacterial properties that are wonderful for acne prone skin.
2) Oatmeal is not just a healthy breakfast, it too makes for a refreshing facial mask. Combine one third of a cup of oatmeal with half a cup of hot water. After that has mixed together, add yogurt, honey and an egg white.
3) If one wishes to exfoliate, strawberries are a great solution. Those tiny seeds will scrap off the dead skin. Mash the strawberries (and one can add blueberries, and those now-familiar ingredients of yogurt and honey as well) into a pulp, apply to the skin, then wash off briskly with a coarse cloth.
4) Grow an Aloe Vera plant in the kitchen window. If there is a juicer or food processor handy, as needed peel off some leaves, process them and retain the juice. Not only will it remove liver spots, using the same process as described above regarding lemon juice; Aloe Vera also soothes the pain of minor burns. All the more reason to have it in the kitchen!
So fill the tub with warm water and epsom salts, put on a fruit mask, rest cool green tea bags on closed eyes, and relax away the cares of the day.
