Finally! We’ve gotten our first official look at The Hunger Games: Mockingjay [Part 1], and it is worth the wait. The poster, while not particularly different from the previous posters nor illuminating in any way, is fantastic in its attention to detail. Plus, it’s a moving poster, and needless to say, to see the bird spread its wings and hear the four-note Mockingjay whistle uttered at the end brings chills.
Lionsgate has always done extremely well with the promotion for the Hunger Games series, and there’s no reason we should expect anything less than a flawlessly executed marketing campaign for these last two films. The Mockingjay one-sheet is only the first of the many, many posters we will no doubt get for Mockingjay Part 1, but it’s still exciting.
Plus, TheHungerGamesExclusive.com just launched a whole bunch of new promotional material for Mockingjay, and in addition to the motion poster, it also has exclusive interviews with the filmmakers, a new interview from Julianne Moore [who plays District 13 and Rebellion President Alma Coin], and a host of images from Mockingjay.
There’s a lot of buzz for Mockingjay, even though the first of the two parts doesn’t come out until November 21st. However, the film’s about to host a presentation at the Cannes film festival, so the studio’s no doubt trying to get an early jump on kick-starting the promotion.
In addition to starring Julianne Moore as a new addition to the cast, Mockingjay Part 1 will also star the holy trifecta of Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson. This is the first film that we’ll actually get a better sense of Liam’s acting abilities, since he now has actual lines as opposed to standing there and looking brooding. Plus, Mockingjay is definitely the darkest of Suzanne Collins’ trilogy, but will the promotion reflect that? The first trailer is rumored to premiere at Comic-Con, so we still have a few months to go before finding out.
