This has got to be one of the more ridiculous and reaching stories coming out of Tabloid Wednesday in a long time, and that’s saying a LOT. According to In Touch Weekly, Jennifer Lawrence does not like Shailene Woodley because Shailene is stealing her spotlight. Um.. ok….
First of all, Shailene Woodley’s had one medium-sized hit in Divergent, and is about to star in the Fault In Our Stars – a movie that’s predicted to do very well [especially for its genre], but it is in no way going to bring the house down like The Hunger Games or X-Men franchise. Jennifer, on the other hand, has the highest-grossing domestic franchise for the moment, is starring in another well-reviewed blockbuster [X-Men], and also has three Oscar nominations and one win – and she can boast that every single one of her movies is critically acclaimed [barring that shitty horror movie she did after her Oscar nom].
Even without considering all this – and the fact that Jennifer’s career is still untouchable, especially for actresses in her age range – Jennifer and Shailene have exchanged emails and consider each other acquaintances, if not friends. Shailene’s expressed her admiration for Jennifer in the past, and Jennifer’s always been very vocal about women supporting each other in the industry. Sure, tabloids make it seem like actresses are constantly fighting with each other, but it’s actually the other way around. Actresses are actually usually much more supportive and encouraging of each other than actors, who often backstab, bitch, and steal roles from one another all the time. Unfortunately, that doesn’t sell in the tabloid world, so here we are, stuck with yet another made-up feud between the two biggest female leads of YA movies.
The report from In Touch is also ridiculous, with a ‘source’ claiming, “Jennifer was creeped out when Shailene began auditioning for the same roles as her – and then copied her pixie cut. Jennifer’s so fed up that she told Shailene to leave her alone!”
Um, Shailene cut her hair BEFORE Jennifer, and she did it so she could accurately portray her role in The Fault In Our Stars. Also, Jennifer hasn’t auditioned for a role since Silver Linings Playbook, and I doubt Shailene is getting the same offers as her.
