Summer jobs can be a wonderful experience for teens that are looking to earn some extra money. The benefits far exceed money, however. You also get to learn about leadership, teamwork, responsibility and gain valuable work experience. If you are looking to find a job as a teen and wonder what to do, here are five great suggestions for your summer job:
Work in a movie theater – There are plenty of reasons to enjoy a job in a movie theater. Not only will you likely see all of your friends with regularity, but you will also get to work in a number of areas. You might work the window, make popcorn, work the door or even be a usher. Best of all, you will get to see a ton of the newest and hottest movies for free!
Amusement park – An amusement park is kind of like the movie theater, but outside. With being outside you can count on some added benefits…fresh air, a better tan and plenty of various tasks that will give you exercise. Amusement parks are great because you have a million different things you can end up doing in a given shift. They are generally seasonal though, so it might be tough to get a spot.
Work at the local zoo – If you love animals, this is a no brainer. There are countless summer positions open at the local zoo and all of them are fun and exciting. About the only part that is no fun is scooping dung, but that is generally only once in a blue moon. If you want to work with the animals, you can sometimes find jobs that count towards your school work either now or in the future. How is that for an awesome bonus!
Lawn care service – Mowing yards and trimming hedges might seem like a bad idea but the bottom line is that the money is good. Not only that, you can earn at your own pace. Working for yourself can be very profitable if you take it seriously and do a fantastic job. You will get in great physical shape and have the best tan in town. Are you ready to be an entrepreneur?
Babysitting – Much like yard work, babysitting affords you the chance to be your own boss. When you take on other kids as a responsibility, you have to take it seriously and be very careful about your choices. Babysitting can be very lucrative and you will have very few problems finding people who need help. Kids are always in need of watching.
Finding summer work as a teen is really not all that tough. The key is to stick to your interests and find something that will accentuate what you are wanting for yourself that summer. Sometimes we have to take jobs just to earn money and that is okay too, but you should try to find something you enjoy. Earning money is always easier when we are having a good time doing it.
