Star Wars Fans, Respond! Disney Buys LucasFilm For $4 Billion, Plans 3 New Movies

Say what? Forgive me for saying so, but is this necessary? Fans have been polarized over the three newest installments in the saga that is Star Wars, and many have been seriously angered by the sketchy changes made in the BluRay DVD editions. But, like it or not, there will be more stories set in a galaxy far far away, and this time they’ll be brought to you by Disney! That’s right–Disney just signed a sweet $4 billion dollar bargain with LucasFilm, and now they’re going to bring us a new film in 2015!

The Mirror explained the next plot: “According to Disney, the new trilogy will carry the story of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia beyond Return of the Jedi, the third film released and the sixth in the saga.” It is an interesting premise. I think most agree (including yours truly) that the original characters (and cast) are more compelling than their prequel counterparts. No offense to Natalie Portman!

So what does creator George Lucas think of this? Surprisingly enough, he’s on board! He said, “For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next. It’s now time for me to pass it on to a new generation of film-makers. I’ve always believed it could live beyond me and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. Now it will certainly live on and flourish, blazing new trails for many generations to come.”

Translation: “I wanted more money. The series is already ruined, so who cares at this point?” Sorry, George, but I’m not buying it. Sure, we tell and retell classic stories, but I don’t think that using the exact characters qualifies as blazing new trails. I don’t even know what to make of this. Time will tell, but I’m uber skeptical at this point! So, fans, respond! Is this chaos or brilliance? Sell out our artistry? More important: will Harrison Ford be cast??

One Hour Worth of Star Wars: Battlefront III

Now there is this extremely lucky guy out in this world living amongst us with an unfinished copy of Star Wars: Battlefront III. He’s shown snippets and shots before of the game but this a whole entirely new thing all together.

The guy uploaded one hour of gameplay footage from this cancelled project, while watching this footage I almost had a tear in my eye thinking “Why? Why couldn’t this game have been made?” Instead of Battle Front III all we got was that one for PSP and Kinect Star Wars which were really not that great.

Apparently Star Wars: Battlefront III was cancelled so that The Force Unleashed could be made, but then they canceled it again to make Star Wars: 1313. Don’t get me wrong, Star Wars: 1313 looks incredibly bad a*s but I do hope to see that when the next gen consoles come out along with it is a Battlefront III.

It’s pretty sad to see that a franchise as successful as Battlefront has been cancelled, I remember when I was a young kid I’d play Battlefront and Battlefront II all day with a bunch of friends, it was seriously one of my most favorite games along with Star Wars: Jedi Academy. The footage you see here is the third attempt of making Battlefront III, since it was first given to Slant Six Games and now Spark Unlimited.

First Time Splitters 4 is not being made and now I come to see Battlefront III also won’t be made is a little upsetting but I hope to see both sometime in the next couple of years

Star Wars: The Old Republic Patch 1.3 Update Releasing Soon

Bio Ware has officially announced that patch 1.3 an update for Star Wars: the Old Republic will be releasing Tomorrow June 26th which is very soon. This new update will be giving players a group finder which many fans of the game have been requesting for, to make it easier to get groups for Flashpoints, Operations and for some those Heroic Missions where it felt no one wanted to do.

1.3 will also be bringing us new Legacy content, which includes new perks that allow your characters to lever faster doing space missions, Flashpoints and Warzones. This here gives you the choice to level with whatever way you find more fun or suitable to your character. What’s also cool is that you’ll also be allowed to modify the social gear you’ve obtained to make it usable for when you get to end game, so you can go into Wazones or big Operations dressed in whatever pleases you. Ranked Warzones are also being added in this patch which was supposed to come out in 1.2 but was taken off.

It’s nice to see that Bio Ware is updating this game and making it the best they can, sadly I’m one of the people who unsubscribed to the game because I found that when you reach end game there’s very little for you to do. I found myself at more times trying to find things to do with in the game to keep myself playing but later it got too tedious and I decided to let it go, so I can wait for more content to be put in the game and then later maybe comeback to it depending how good Guild Wars 2 is going to be.

1.3 isn’t the only content Bio Ware is bringing to TOR they’re also working on an expansion which will include a whole new planet to explore and do quests in, raise the level cap, add new abilities for all classes, add a new race the Cathar which isn’t interesting to me at all and more.

Star Wars: 1313

Lucas Film has recently revealed that they are now developing a new game called Star Wars 1313, it’s supposed to take place in Coruscant and the protagonist of the game is a bounty hunter, the game is going to allow us to explore a whole new side of the Star Wars Universe we’ve yet to see. The game will be a third person, action adventure shooter and it is going to explore more of the mature themes that were not in the previous Star Wars games.

It’s quite weird because Rick Mcallum a producer described the Star Wars TV Show to being quite similar to this game. Maybe they could be linked in a way? The game was announced on Spike TV’s Game Trailer show.

A bit of back story for those who are interested, “Named for Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant, the game puts players in control of a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy. Star Wars 1313 emphasizes epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a hero who uses human skills and gadgets, rather than supernatural Force powers, to make his way through this dangerous world.”

Sad to say there’s no more information on the game other than it being unveiled during E3 in Los Angeles, CA next week – so we will be getting more when the time comes. It will be getting a 2013 release date.

Star Wars Celebrates A Milestone

Today “Star Wars” celebrates a milestone with it’s 35th Anniversary. On May 25, 1977 the beginning of an amazing trilogy was created, surprisingly not by a God but by a mere mortal man who goes by the name George Lucas and that film is “Star Wars”, though the title changed in 1981 to “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.”

After the release of “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope”, two sequels were released and they were called “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back” and “Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi” and damn were these movies so good, to say you’ve never seen them means you’re missing out big time in life.

Later in 1999, a prequel trilogy was released “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace”, “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” and “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.”

A lot of people complained saying that the prequel trilogy was horrible, especially the first episode. I don’t entirely agree with this, the first episode wasn’t the greatest, but it was pretty good, how can you not love that last fight with Darth Maul vs. Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Attack of the Clone and Revenge of the Sith were amazing and I enjoyed them just as much as I did the original. The “Star Wars” franchise has spawned TV series, comic books, video games and huge fan base. On this glorious day I recommend you honor it by watching one of the films, or if you’re a die hard “Star Wars” fan just watch both trilogies.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Subscribers ‘Dropping Like Flies’

EA has recently reported that there MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic has had a drop in subscribers. There used to be 1.7 million subscribed to the game but now there is currently 1.3 million which does seem like a pretty big drop.

This was discovered after the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic’s new 1.2 Legacy update which was pretty damn good, this update added a whole lot of new in game content including flashpoints, new PvP, new armor and more.

For those of you who don’t know Star Wars: The Old Republic is an MMORPG and to play it requires a subscription for the game costing $15 and the game it’s self costs $60. At the end of April there were 2.4 million copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic bought and to see that there are only 1.3 subscriptions to the game left, is quite worrisome.

Even though there have been less subscribers for TOR, EA still considers Star Wars: The Old Republic to be the second best MMORPG in the West and they say “it’s stable and profitable.” Most of the subscribers that dropped the game was because of the loss of more casual players. I have a feeling that as the game goes on we’ll be seeing tons of cool new features in the future.

Star Wars Coming To Disneyland Paris

For a nerd like me I can assure you that Star Wars Land will be the next “wonder” of the world, screw the Eiffel Tower. I want to go to the Mos Eisley Cantina and buy me some Jawa juice, while kicking it back and listening to the cantina bands’ beautiful medley. This rumour might just be the only reason I’d ever consider visiting Paris in my life time, this is a Star Wars nerds’ dream come true.

The rumour was brought up on the Disneyland Paris Forum, but writer for the Disney and More Blog saidb that imagineers are in fact working on a Star Wars land. Oh and get this, even the thoughts of a f*cking Jedi Academy are thought to be included as well! I don’t think I can stand this nerdgasm any longer; this is just too good to be true!

But imagine if this rumour is in fact just what it is, a rumour. I can tell you that every hard-core Star Wars nerd will find the guy who started it and they will surely torture him or have everyone force choke him at the same time.

Proper Syntax Screws With Yoda

Just in case some of you might have been living under a rock, Yoda from the Star Wars universe appeared in the second and third original films, as well as all three prequel trilogy films. A renowned Jedi master, he was responsible for training Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Jedi, he’s a powerful small and green Jedi Master full of knowledge.

The way Yoda speaks has become very well known for a lot of people out there, to me it always made him sound much more wise when he gave advice or just spoke in general, but can you imagine if this long eared green Jedi spoke normally?
For those of you who lack the imagination to do so, I’ve got a video that’ll help you out.

The video was created by a guy who calls himself YodaFan, he or not likely she recut Yoda’s dialogue from certain parts in the film. This only made me realise how much I really do appreciate Yoda’s unique way of speech, seriously if he actually talked with proper syntax it would of pretty much killed the movie for me.

Thanks for spending your time YodaFan to make us fans of the Star Wars Universe to really appreciate Yoda and his way of speaking.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Update 1.2

Star Wars: The Old Republic will be having a huge change in early April of this year; a video was released from BioWare describing how massive update 1.2 truly is for this popular MMORPG. The Legacy content being added with this patch will give players incredible benefits and some little changes that could make your experience with the game oh so ever greater.

A new warzone called Novare Coast will be added and also an operation called Explosive Conflict which will both be located on the planet Denova. That’s not all there will be a new flash point by the name of The Lost Island which I must say looks interesting from what I saw in the trailer.

The Legacy system looks like it’s going to be a wonderful thing, it will be able to add new abilities, races, unlocks and a whole lot more. Players will be getting their own family tree which can give those powers from others in their family of created characters. For example imagine being an Imperial Agent Sniper with the ability to Force Choke someone…. Doesn’t that sound f*cking awesome!?

Graphics will be updated with this patch, improving the character textures which will be a big difference in quality an advanced UI customization. There’s going to be new armor that looks insanely awesome, weapons and so many other features in this update… I wish I could talk about them all but I’d probably be here all day.

If you haven’t picked up a copy of Star Wars: The Old Republic I’d advise you to do so if you have the requirements on your PC to play it and if you can afford it, it’s seriously a game worth playing.

Star Wars Actor Bullied Into Quitting Acting

Jake Lloyd, former Star Wars child actor who played Anakin Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace has talked about how he quit acting after being bullied in school for his Hollywood career and how it made his life a living hell.

Lloyd made the decision of an early retirement from acting because of how hard it was to fit in after playing Anakin Skywalker when he was eight years-old.

He didn’t keep all of the Star Wars memorabilia, and only reprised his role as Anakin for about five videogames. He said “Other children were really mean to me. They would make the sound of the light saber every time they saw me. It was totally mad, my entire school life was really a living hell and I had to do up to 60 interviews a day.”

Lloyd, is now at the age of 22 years-old and a budding filmmaker, he only makes rare appearances at sci-fi conventions. He says “I’ve learned to hate it when the cameras are pointed at me.”

I find it very sad that he stopped acting after The Phantom Menace, now I know it wasn’t the greatest Star Wars movie ever made but his acting in the film was actually pretty good.
